Events

No big events for me while I am shooting the show, so I thought I would help you with your events this season.  No need to go crazy for a brand new outfit in this economic down turn.  Look in your closet for the basics and good ole stand bys!  If you have to buy one of the pieces, I've got store suggestions too.

For your average party or dinner...Put a crisp white shirt (Basiques) with some fancy, flowy pants (Macy's), a string of pearls and your fancy shoes (Zappos.com).  Add a fun fushia, purple, or red wrap (Abiento) over your shoulders, or a blazer in a great color (Nordstrom) a little evening bag (Macy's), and you are to a fancy party in a flash!

For the fete at home...or someone else's... Go with your dark jeans (Nordstrom), a red top (sweater, blouse, or knit) (Ann Taylor Loft, Ann Taylor, Talbots), throw on your boots (DSW) - don't forget to add some jewelry (Target, JC Penny) - and you are confortable and fashionable!

For the hubbies party...grab a black skirt (Nordstrom) , a shiny top - any color will do (Macy's), some black jewelry (White House Black Market), opaque tights(SteinMart), fancy shoes (as long as they are are closed toe), your evening handbag, and have a ball!

If you have teenagers and need to buy dresses for them - here are a few ideas - Francesca's collection (Highland Village, Uptown Park, Memorial City Mal), Dillard's Jr. Dept - lots to choose from, New York & Co.

I hope you all have a lot of invitations, and if not, may your celebrations at home be warm and bright!

Tips

Remember that I am not a fan of giving clothing as gifts unless you have personal knowledge of exactly what they want.  So here are some websites to check out for gifts...

www.delight.com - find gifts for everybody on your list with a $7.95 shipping rate.
www.giftgenius.com- this site gives you tons of ideas for everyone.
www.fredflare.com - for fun, funky, retro presents and stocking stuffers
www.cambriacove.com - for the hardest to shop for - elegant, affordable gifts for home, holiday, men and women
www.etsy.com - great site for art lovers, craft levers, one of a kind pieces of jewelry, clothing and art.

Here are some random tips I have come across this month...

Baking soda does more than remove odors from your fridge!  Put one in your closets to remove musty smells too!  Don't forget your kids closets and coat closets.

Good Housekeeping recommends using the rough side of a kitchen sponge for removing pills from sweaters - somebody try it and let me know if it works!

Deals and Steals

Go to www.priceprotectr.com for each stores policy.  It is always good to know the return policy this time of year.  Some stores will extend their return period for the holidays.

www.budgetfashionista.com has some great ideas for how to look chic without spending a lot of moolah.

www.currentcodes.com has discount codes for many stores on line.  Check it out.

I have Gift Certificates for all of my services.
